Advanced Process Management - 2007
“This paper examines the benefits of applying a systematic approach
to operational effectiveness and creating changes in the management
of tasks and activities through process re-engineering. Differences
in operational effectiveness among organisations are extensive. Some
organisations are able to get more out of their inputs than others
because they eliminate wasted effort, employ more advanced and
functional management information systems, motivate employees
better, or have greater insight into managing and enhancing
particular sets of processes. Such differences in operational
effectiveness are an important source of differences in determining
value enhancement, profitability and enterprise efficiency among
organisations because they directly affect relative cost positions,
and outcome efficacy”.

Risk Management for Maintenance
Contractors - November 2006
Maintenance
contracting can be fraught with risks. Spire advocate upfront
partnering procurement models that clarify risk and parties roles
and responsibilities, from the beginning. This paper was presented
at the 2006 NZ Local Authority Property Managers Association (LAPA)
conference and looks at risk management in an outsourcing context
and provides an overview on sharing risks, managing outsourcing risk
and creating a partnering environment for mutual collaboration
between the asset owner principle and suppliers.

Optimising Supplier Management -
2005
“Organisations recognise the value of
smart procurement and the opportunities for reducing the
total cost of ownership but the challenge of generating real
benefits; both financial and non-financial to the
organisation through third party service provider
relationships is for most organisations a monumental
challenge. This paper explores the opportunities and models
for service providers to work closer with their clients to
create an alliance or partnership that delivers enhanced
value well beyond a standard contractual relationship”. As
published in the Journal of Facilities Management (Vol 4,
No1. 2005).
